- How much is the Munderloh scholarship grant and what criteria must an applicant meet in being considered for a grant?
Each scholarship grant is $2,500 for the academic year and is awarded to full-time students
studying to become ordained parish ministers at one of the four seminaries the Foundation supports.
Applicants for grants are limited to students pursuing a Masters of Divinity Degree and students in
alternate programs leading to ordination. The grant is awarded primarily upon the financial need and academic
performance of an applicant as compared to other applicants as determined by the Board of Trustees.
Following the philosophy of its founder, Alfred Munderloh, the Foundation requires each scholarship grant
recipient to sign a "challenge grant" agreement to accept the challenge to recruit others to a career in the parish ministry.
- May a grant recipient reapply for a scholarship grant?
A grant recipient may reapply for scholarship grants for no more than two subsequent academic
years of seminary study following the award of the first grant or a total of $7,500. No grants
are available for the intern/vicarage year.
- How do I apply for a Scholarship Grant?
For initial applications, the Munderloh Application for Grant form (available through the
seminary financial aid office or downloaded from here) must be completed and submitted to the seminary financial aid office, along with an autobiographical statement, academic transcripts, recommendation from pastor and recommendation from academic advisor or colleague. Initial applications must be received by the Foundation by the July 15th preceding each academic year.
For reapplications for prior scholarship grant recipients, the Application for Grant form may downloade from here, completed and forwarded directly to the student's assigned Munderloh trustee by the July 1st preceding each academic year. The autobiographical statement, transcripts and recommendations are not required for reapplications. The July 1st deadline is strictly enforced unless there are extenuating circumstances.
For reapplications where no prior grant was awarded, the Application for Grant form (without the autobiographical statement, transcripts and recommendations) should be completed and submitted to the seminary financial aid office so that they may be received by the Foundation by the July 15th preceding each academic year.
- How do I contact the Foundation?
You may contact the Foundation, individual trustees, our Pastoral Counselor and our Admissions Counselor at the Munderloh web site: www.munderloh.org/contactus.asp.
